Trolley stop to Viva Tijuana shopping center:
Get off the trolley at the end of the line in San Ysidro, follow the crowd Westward,
over the footbridge attached to the Immigration & Customs Building. The footbridge
passes over interstate 5 and you can look to your right from the top of the bridge
and see the line of cars waiting to enter Mexico; on your left you will see an even
longer line of cars waiting to exit Mexico. As the ramp descends, it loops
around so you are facing East. When you reach street level again, turn right (south) and
go through the turnstiles and you're in Mexico! Keep walking in a straight line southerly.
When the mural on the wall on your right ends, turn right (to the west)
and walk maybe 20-30 ft. and exit through the turnstile. Straight ahead, across
the street, you will see a sign that says "Welcome to Tijuana, Mexico" and a sign
for the "Perfume Shop." Cross the street so that you are on the sidewalk in
front of the "Welcome to Tijuana" sign. Once on the sidewalk, turn left immediately
and walk up 1/2 block to the Banamex, turn right at the Banamex and enter into the
Viva Tijuana shopping center. On your left you will see a building with a large
scorpion on top.
To Madero Ave. from Viva Tijuana Shopping Center:
Keep walking straight on through the shopping center - you will see a mechanical bull
and other rides.
After the bull, veer off to the right and head towards the green ramps
that go up and switch-back
around. Take the stairs (or the ramp opposite the stairs, they both go to the
pedestrian bridge that crosses the Tijuana River).
Cross over the river and back down to street level. You will be in a little shopping
plaza, walk west through the plaza.
The first street you come to will be Aldrete. It intersects with Articulo here.
There a street
sign there.
The next street
is Madero and the following street is Revolución.
